"For a moment, I was jealous of Ishikawa Ryuichi."
--Daido Moriyama
He rode around the island of Okinawa on his motorbike, photographing about 3,000 people he met, saying, "This is amazing, let me take your photos," and "Isn't that fun?"
The situation in which this person is in front of me and the desire to get to know this person. The idea that social situations and people are inseparable, I try to incorporate the background into the picture. Rather than trying to capture the person's true nature or a certain aspect, it is a portrait that is "all about this moment" and tries to embrace the person through the eyes.
Portraits taken in Okinawa, of Okinawa, by Okinawans are like waves of life that open up and say, "This is who I am." And within each of us, there are all of those people.
